Apple’s iPad vs Notion Ink’s Adam tablet with Ubuntu: battle of two worlds

We can safely say that the Apple iPad is received with mixed feelings by the IT-savvy community. The main problem is that the tablet is just not as revolutionary as many expected it would be. It keeps many of the limitations of the iPhone (no multitasking, tightly controlled app-store) and doesn’t provide impressive new features which could keep the balance. Let’s compare this tablet to one of the more promising Tegra 2 tablets on the way to the market: the Notion Ink Adam.

Alot of bloggers are not really happy with this new iPad.There was just too much hoopla over it and lots of people got disapointed. You see, I actually see great deal of the cool potential uses of this gizmo. Third-party applications for playing music, games, newsprints and magazine and FFS books, tons of good stuff, but IMHO they failed to sell it properly (excluding the books). It feels kinda incomplete
Honestly, a glance at the specs will show you how much better the Adam is and WILL be than the iPad.
In terms of OS, Froyo is as good as or better than iPhoneOS, even considering the upcoming multitasking for iPhoneOS. Can that hardware even support multitasking? It wasn’t created with that intent, was it?
It’s the screen technology that will make or break the Adam’s success; using PixelQi and being able to choose between the two modes is great, but Qualcomm’s Mirasol is looking outstanding (can’t read it in the dark or in bed without a light, which feels a bit old fashioned).
I’d just be hesitant to cast my lot in with any of these new technologies until one emerges victorious (history has shown us repeatedly that the BEST isn’t always the winner). That said, I’ll be first in line to purchase an Adam whenever the hell they come out.
